In 1950, Irish born poet, scholar and academic C.S. Lewis wrote his novel "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the first book in what was to become The Chronicles of Narnia series. With sometimes dark and overt religious overtones the books tell the story of the four Pevensie children who are transported, via a wardrobe, into the magical land of Narnia. There they encounter Aslan, the Great Lion; the all-powerful ruler of Narnia.

"I had an assignment in my tenth-grade English class to read Lewis's "The Screwtape Letters." That was my first introduction to the man and his literary works. It was amazing!"
